#ACKLocal
#ACKLocal is the Town of Nantucket’s platform for education and action on all things environmental. On February 23rd, 2018, National Skip the Straw Day, the Town of Nantucket, via the new #ACKLocal platform and in collaboration with ReMain and Maria Mitchell Association, launched the Stop the Straw campaign.
Dreamland Nantucket
The Nantucket Dreamland is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the cultural and intellectual life of Nantucket by providing year-round films, educational programs, and a venue for community activities that engage Nantucket in the evolving world of entertainment and education.
Food Rescue Nantucket
Food Rescue Nantucket collects and distributes food that would otherwise be thrown away by partnering with various island farms, businesses, and other nonprofits in order to help people on a wider scale.
Linda Loring Nature Foundation
The Linda Loring Nature Foundation promotes environmental literacy through research, education, and stewardship empowering the Nantucket community to develop a sense of place by deepening its connection to the natural world.
Maria Mitchell Association
The Maria Mitchell Association operates two observatories, a natural science museum, an aquarium, and preserves the historic birthplace of Maria Mitchell. A wide variety of science and history-related programming is offered throughout the year for people of all ages.
Mind’s Eye Communications
A design agency based on Nantucket, with over thirty years in communication design and marketing, and twenty years in publishing artsNantucket, and Sound Magazine. Mind’s Eye Communications have served clients in the corporate, non-profit, and small business sectors. They combine creativity and technology, resulting in ideas for a demanding, faster world.
Nantucket Chamber of Commerce
The Nantucket Chamber of Commerce is a leading voice in the island community of Nantucket Island, and is devoted to creating a sustainable environment. Island living means we need to live and work to respect and conserve our beautiful natural environment.
Nantucket Conservation Foundation
The Nantucket Conservation Foundation assists in the preservation of Nantucket’s character by permanently conserving, maintaining, and managing natural areas and habitats. Through our ecological research and educational outreach, we encourage an appreciation of and interest in the Island’s natural resources.
Nantucket Historical Association
The Nantucket Historical Association preserves and interprets the history of Nantucket through its programs, collections, and properties, in order to promote the island’s significance and foster an appreciation of it among all audiences.
Nantucket Land Council
The Nantucket Land Council is dedicated to protecting Nantucket’s natural world and rural character by holding and enforcing conservation restrictions, commissioning scientific research, monitoring development proposals, engaging in legal proceedings to protect natural resources, and educating the public on local environmental issues.
Nantucket Preservation Trust
The NPT is a nonprofit, membership-based organization with a focus on the preservation of the island’s historic architecture. We provide programs that explore the architecture and history of the island, and strive to increase awareness of the importance and fragility of our architectural heritage.
Sustainable Nantucket
Sustainable Nantucket is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization that is cultivating a healthy Nantucket by building a more locally-based and self-reliant food system on-island, and a strong local economy. These efforts include expanding agricultural demand and production; increasing access to local food for the community, through our farmers market and in our restaurants and schools; and educating our community about sustainability.
