On April 24, 5:30 pm, the Linda Loring Nature Foundation’s Science Pub Series presents speaker Casey Thornbrugh, a citizen of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe with a Ph.D. in Geography.
As Climate Science Liaison of the United South and Eastern Tribes, Casey identifies research priorities and supports climate adaptation planning for Tribal Nations and Indigenous communities.
Anthropogenic climate change, coupled with the impacts of colonization, poses unique challenges for Tribal Nations. Despite these challenges, Tribal Nations are leading the way in climate change adaptation planning and resilience.
This talk will detail climate change impacts and concerns of Tribal Nations and examples of Tribal-led climate adaptation projects. Casey will also share examples of respectful engagement and partnership with Tribal Nations and Indigenous communities in climate change adaptation.
All Science Pub presentations are free and open to the public.
