Presented together by the Linda Loring Nature Foundation and the Nantucket Conservation Foundation
EXPERT-LED INTERACTIVE LECTURES AND FIELD LEARNING EXPERIENCES
In Spring of 2022, Dr. Sarah Bois (Linda Loring Nature Foundation) and Dr. Jen Karberg (Nantucket Conservation Foundation) will present a collaborative field and lecture course to examine the historic, current, and future use of Nantucket’s coastline through the lens of its ecological importance and resilience. This is the second year of this successful, interactive course.
Who this course is for:
- Individuals who are interested in Nantucket’s coastal environment.
- Individuals with a passion for nature and the environment.
- Professionals who want to gain knowledge about coastal ecology.
Course Structure
There will be 5 lectures over the course of 5 weeks paired with field experiences throughout the island. Lectures will be recorded live and posted to a class website the following day. While they prefer in-person lecture attendance for discussion, it is understood that isn’t always possible.
Lectures will be Wednesdays at 6 pm (90 min) with recordings placed on the course website by the following Thursday morning at 9 am.
Field trips will be Sundays at 9 am (2 hours) and subject to weather. Participants will need their own transportation to the field trip sites.
