Race for Open SpaceChanges to the 2020 Race for Open Space

Given the uncertainty with COVID-19, and in the interest of safety for participants, staff, and volunteers we have decided to make this year’s Race For Open Space Virtual.

Have you or your friends and family been enjoying the properties? Sign up today and support the Nantucket Conservation Foundation.

What is a Virtual Race?

A Virtual Race allows you to run the race at any time during the allotted time frame, and on any course of your choosing, either here on Nantucket or wherever you may be.

Where can I run?

You can run any course of your choosing, but if you need some ideas we will have some 5K and 10K loops on Foundation property available soon on our mobile app, ACKTrails. ACKTrails is FREE and available in the App Store and Google Play.

How will I be timed?

You can use a mobile app of your choosing. Some popular apps include Strava, Mapmyrun, Runkeeper, and others. Once you have run, follow the link with your registration and enter in your time, and upload a screenshot of your time. The results will be posted after the race window has closed. We will send you instructions on how to upload your results before the race window opens.

When can I run?

As this is a Virtual Race, you can run anytime between July 10th, 2020, and July 12th, 2020. Your results must be uploaded by 11:59 PM on July 12, 2020.

Can I run with a friend?

With social distancing precautions in place, you must run (or walk) solo, or with someone who lives in your household.

Organized by the Nantucket Conservation Foundation Associates, this 5K (3.1 miles) or 10K (6.2 miles) race or 2-mile walk attracts serious runners, casual joggers, walkers, and those who are simply avid conservation supporters. Proceeds from the race will go to the Foundation’s Land Fund which helps to preserve and protect the Island’s invaluable open spaces.

Online registration is now available!

Registration is only available online here.
